The Public Panel acts as a board for defining policies for public engagement and communication to ensure the Healthy Futures/Making it Better programmes engages with stakeholders. The panel provides input to the development of the communications strategy, with individual workstreams.
The Public Panels objectives are to:
· Contribute to the preparation process by helping to generate options and alternatives for inclusion in the Stakeholders engagement strategy plan
· Assist in the development and revision of the Stakeholders engagement policies and proposals
· Make unified recommendations on all matters up for discussion to the Reconfiguration Programme Board
The Public Panel consists of a mix of members drawn from:
· Statutory Consultation Bodies
· General Public
· local organisations
NHS Communications and Public and Patient Information leads from Bury PCT, East Lancashire PCT, Heywood, Middleton & Rochdale PCT, Manchester PCT, Oldham PCT and Pennine Acute Hospital Trust will be invited to attend the Public Panel meeting as attendees, but will not be entitled to vote.
The Public Panel meetings are chaired by Paul Mainwaring from the Patients’ Council. The Vice Chair, James Garside of Rochdale Council, will act as chair when the chair is absent.
The Public Panel meet on a bi monthly basis or as necessary.
